Welcome to the Quantum Photonics Lab at KAUST, where light and matter meet at the quantum level to unlock the technologies of the future. Led by Professor Jawaher Almutlaq, the research at QPL explores the intersection of quantum optics, nanophotonics, and materials science to develop next-generation quantum sensors, communication systems, and photonic platforms. By harnessing the unique properties of quantum emitters in solid-state materials—such as diamond color centers—we aim to pioneer scalable solutions for real-world applications in sensing, computing, and networking. Through innovation, collaboration, and education, the Quantum Photonics Lab is contributing of Saudi Arabia’s growing quantum ecosystem.
