Ian Campbell is the Senior Vice President of the National Transformation Institute (NTI) at KAUST, where he works with university leadership and researchers to accelerate Saudi Arabia’s digital economy and extend KAUST’s scientific impact beyond the campus. Before joining KAUST, he served as Executive Chair of Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, where he led national health and life sciences initiatives and directed the government’s COVID-19 business support package in 2020. With over 15 years of executive experience in the healthcare and life sciences sectors—including as CEO of Arquer Diagnostics—Campbell has a distinguished track record in innovation and entrepreneurship. In recognition of his contributions to innovation, he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year Honors List.
